Interacting with Sous

This section explains how to interact with Sous across the dashboard, Sous AI page, and within a formulation. It outlines what Sous can reference in each location, how thread behavior works, and tips for getting clearer results by matching the level of detail in your prompts. You’ll also find guidance on when to start a new thread and how your conversations are saved and organized.

When interacting with Sous on the dashboard or the Sous AI page, it is important to remember that Sous is not pointing at any specific formulation. Sous is trained to respond to the user knowing they are a food scientist and will reference a trusted and gated library to do so. Because Sous is limited to this specific content library, it will not be able to efficiently answer prompts that fall outside food science or the topics represented in that library. Sometimes Sous will simply not answer and will tell you that the prompt is outside of her purview. Sous will match the depth and detail level of the prompts given so more detailed or technical prompts will lead to more detailed or technical answers. While Sous does not learn from previous prompts it will track the conversation within the thread. With this it may reference previous prompts or answers within the thread so it’s always better to start a new thread when changing direction.

Within a formulation Sous is able to react to the formulation and will respond to prompts with visibility of the formulation. If a prompt is not referencing the formulation it may be better to ask on the dashboard or the Sous AI page. For formulation‑specific prompts, the formulation page would be best. For example, if you ask about allergen control on a honey roasted peanut formulation, Sous will specifically address the allergens within that formula—such as peanuts—whereas on the dashboard or Sous AI page it will respond to allergen control more holistically.

All conversations will be saved within the Sous AI page and organized into general Sous threads, either threads from the dashboard or Sous AI pages, or in the project tab if they occurred within a formulation. The chats are organized by the date of the last activity and can be renamed here.
